a clip from the movie, “Maurice” by Merchant Ivory, adapted from E.M. Forster’s novel.
Remembering Tchaikovsky on the anniversary of his birth.
One of most moving parts of the movie for me was this early scene when Clive and Maurice began their relationship. The scenes revolving around the “Pathetique” symphony by Tchaikovsky is poignant and a melancholy foreshadowing of their stormy relationship and the tragic end. This is the mark of fine filmmakers and their attention to layers of detail.
